2019 Hyundai Veloster N
The new Hyundai Veloster N is a serious competitor to the likes of the Golf GTI and Honda’s Civic Type R. The new funky hatchback from Hyundai packs a base 250 horsepower and 260 pounds feet of torque but if you opt for the optional performance package (which you absolutely should) the horsepower gets bumped up to 275 as well as a host of other performance upgrades such as and electronic LSD, better brakes, and adaptive suspension. There aren’t many compromises that you have to face if you are considering buying a Veloster N over a GTI but the biggest one would have to be the interior. I think that the Golf GTI is a better all around daily driver because it has a higher quality interior and more safety equipment That being said however i’m not suggesting that the interior on the Hyundai is bad, it’s actually a decent place to spend time. It is still a Hyundai though so the interior build quality will be less than that of its German rival. Something that the Veloster N has over the GTI is the exhaust note the Veloster N has a great throaty sound complete with pops and crackles which are more than just for show the exhaust crackles actually help keep the turbo spooled while changing gears. The Veloster N is also less expensive than the comparable GTI the base price of the Veloster N starts at $27,400 and if you opt for the performance pack it’s only an extra $2100 which is truly a bargain when you consider what you're getting for the price. In conclusion if you are considering buying a new hot hatch I would absolutely include the Veloster N to the list.
